Everywhere I Look

My sketchbooks are precious possessions, containing sketched memories of travels, both within Australia and beyond. Sitting on a remote beach, enjoying a cup of tea from a thermos in a roadside picnic area or sipping a coffee in a piazza, there’s always an impression to be gained and translated into a sketch or a painting. When travelling I have a mini kit, an A5 sketchbook, pens, watercolour pencils and paints and that’s about it. I capture a scene quickly, often finishing it off that evening. When I return from my travels my sketchbooks provide inspirations for larger works.
